Education

When I entered my senior year of high school at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts I had no idea what I wanted to do in college. I felt pressure to attend and arts conservatory and study apparel and textile design so that my art skills would not go to waste. I decided to apply to the University of Texas on a whim and one campus tour later I was somewhat sure that this was the place for me. I knew that business was the right major choice, but I wanted to pursue visual arts too. During my campus visit I was lost and I stumbled upon the School of Human Ecology to get directions. The person I asked happened to be  the head of the Textile and Apparel Design program and I ended up spending over an hour talking to her about it. She viewed my portfolio on the spot and accepted me into the program. From that point on I knew that I had to attend UT where I could follow both of my passions in a highly competitive environment. I am  an Unspecified Business major until spring 2014 when I plan on declaring either Finance or Accounting as my major. I will also officially declare Textile and Apparel Design as a second major at that time.
